Tonight when I walked out to the mailbox to post some letters I was hit by the bracing cold crisp air and surprised by the crunchy grass beneath my feet even though there's no snow on the ground. In the oddly quiet night I looked up to the blackest sky lit by 100s of bright clear stars twinkling from the depths of space. The experience instantly transported me to a time long ago. Memories flooded my brain, and once again I was a young teen walking home from church through the cemetery on an eerie wintery night exactly like this one, and as was and still is my habit I saw myself looking up wondering what this big old world had in store for me. I couldn't have possibly guessed all that has unfolded throughout the many years long gone by but now tonight I see it all as clearly as i view those stars and I'm glad that I had the courage to keep moving forward.
