It doesn't cost a thing

At the end of the school year I was informed that an inner city elementary school is in dire need of kids' new or gently used undergarments. Unfortunately the 30 day ban killed ALL of my attempts to start a campaign for that. Still today's huge delivery of much needed clothing for kids and teens from my son and D-I-L reminded me that about an event that happened last month which shows me there is still so much more work to be done. After dropping off Mr Kulp for eye surgery, instead of waiting I decided to drop off a generous donation that I had received from Lauri and John Grohman, so shortly before noon I headed off to a popular soup kitchen in an impoverished inner city neighborhood where they also dispense free items to their clients. However as I neared my destination I observed a bunch of cop cars and whatnot blocking the road. I panicked. I only had so much time before I had to return to surgery. What should I do now? I turned around and started to reroute when I noticed about a dozen women and girls on an upcoming corner just standing around trying to beat the heat, so I stopped in front of them and approached them. "Would you like some clothing?" I asked, the question returned with blank stares. Without getting a response, I decided to display my wares. I struggled to drop a huge box of nice shoes on the sidewalk. That got the eyes of a few as they furtively moved closer to eye the box. Encouraged, I dropped another box of beautiful shoes which now drew a few more wary onlookers. So I flopped out a bag full of beautiful gently worn clothing items including women's most valuable items--bras. Now they were hooked. Next came a trendy set of what looked like brand new throw pillows which a pre-teen girl eyed longingly as her grandmother whispered something. Still nobody took anything so I repeated, "It's all free! Don't you want it?" Still while they all were huddled around nobody took anything. Finally one little girl translated , "My grandmother wants to know why?" to which I replied, "Why not" and walked over and gave the grandmother a hug. Suddenly the women started smiling and chattering and digging into the offerings, so my job was done for the day. I only wish Lauri could have been there to see how happy those women were. You can help by cleaning out your kids' and your parents' and your own closets and donating stuff that you don't want but others desperately need. It doesn't cost you a cent to help others. I'll even pick up. Please help. 📷<3
