We are hurtling down a very dangerous road when we have to apologize for being the voice of reason, like Mario Lopez. He was forced to apologize for stating that THREE YEAR OLDS are too young to choose their gender identity, this after being asked his thoughts after being baited during a podcast discussion. The host stated what she calls one of the "weird trends" of Hollywood parents allowing their children to pick their gender identity, with his response being that tots are too young for an opinion on it and it's dangerous for parents to make that decision. He couldn't be more right. They can't know that at such an early age. Jane Lloyd, UK: He was stating fact. I'm all for children helping make decisions, but not about this. It's just weird screwed up parents trying to force an issue which may not be there. It's sick!? I would say most apologies were not because they no longer believed what they originally said. But simply to save face, protect their image or even for their own or families safety/sanity.
Heath Rosier, Canada: I suspect the “apology” is not sincere and was offered only to save his career. Yet with a net worth of 20 million he obviously never needs to work again - so he should have had the fortitude to say “look, I’m sorry you’re offended, but truth is truth”.
Heath has an excellent point. If these offended people need an apology, give them what they want but with a dose of truth and reality. Still what are the broader perils of giving into this monstrous form of manipulation? Miserable people are now allowed to fuck with the emotions of total strangers. And not only are they allowed to fuck with their feelings, this shit is allowed to have a direct impact on the victims' jobs, their incomes, and as Jane mentioned, their families. Who among us can be upheld to such a level of scrutiny and walk away unscathed? Anyone could and is the next person in the line of fire for vicious unwarranted vindictiveness because they don't share their same outlook on life. In other words, you are not allowed to have an opinion, but if you do you'll be punished for voicing it.
